關於一不小心會被查水錶的英國奇葩法律
This year a number of new laws are set to come into force which will largely affect smokers, parents and car owners.今年出臺的幾項新政即將生效,菸民、家長和車主們在很大程度上會受到新政影響。
While we get our heads round all the newregulations, let’s take a look back at some unusual and out-dated laws which have never been repealed.在關注這些新政之前,我們先來回顧一下幾項早已過時卻至今仍有效奇葩法條吧。
Technically, you could still be arrested for some of these:嚴格意義上講,違反其中幾項仍有可能被捕:
1.Knocking on a door and legging it一. 敲了門就跑
Seen by many as a harmless children’s game, knocking on someone’s door and running away is actuallyillegalunder the 1839 law.敲了門就跑看起來像是小孩子人畜無害的遊戲,可事實上根據1839年頒佈的法律來看,這樣做事違法的。
2.Getting your windows cleaned or painted二. 請人清潔窗戶或給窗戶上漆
It is illegal to order or permit any servant to stand on the sill of any window to clean or paint it.要求他人或允許他人站在你家窗臺上清潔窗戶或給窗戶上漆都是違法的
3.CelebratingEaster at different times each year三. 每年在不同的`時間慶祝復活節
The Easter Act 1928 says that, in the United Kingdom, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man, Easter Day shall be a fixed day in each year on the first Sunday after the second Saturday in April.1928年頒佈的《復活節法案》規定:英國、海峽群島以及英國屬地曼島的復活節應定於每年四月第二個週六後的第一個週日。
The Act has been on the statute book for 62 years but has never been enacted.雖然該法案已頒佈62年,但從未執行。
4.Not telling a taxi driver you've got the lurgy四. 不告知計程車司機你的患病情況
In London, it is illegal for a person (knowingly) with the plague to flag down a taxi or try and ride on a bus.在倫敦,明知自己患有瘟疫仍然乘坐計程車或公交車是違法的。
The law prohibits any person who knows they have a notifiable disease (including the plague) from entering any form of public conveyance (taxi) without first telling the driver of the conveyance.該法律規定,任何患有應報告傳染病(含瘟疫)者,若未事先告知司機自己的病情則不能乘坐任何交通工具。
5.Turning up at Parliament in the wrong kind of suit五. 進入國會大廈時著裝不當
As of 1313, it has been illegal to enter the Houses of Parliament wearing a suit of armour, the Manchester Evening News reported.曼徹斯特晚報報道:自1313年起,身著盔甲進入國會大廈被視為違法行為。
6.Shaking your rug in London六. 在倫敦街頭抖地毯
As of 1839, it’s been against the law to beat or shake any carpet or rug in the street in London. You can shake your doormat, however, but only before 8am in the morning.自1839年起,在倫敦街頭拍打或抖動地毯是違法的。不過早上八點之前抖門墊兒是可以的。
7.Acting a bit fishy with some salmon七. 買賣三文魚時行為可疑
It's illegal to handle salmon in suspicious circumstances, according to the Salmon Act of 1986.1986年《三文魚法案》規定,在一些可疑的情況下不可買賣三文魚。
8.Setting an alarm without leaving a key nearby八. 設定警報,未留鑰匙
It is an offence under a provision of the Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Act 2005 to leave your property with a burglar alarm activated, unless you have named a “key-holder” responsible for shutting it off if you are away.2005年《社群和環境保護法》規定,防盜報警器啟用後離開住所是違法的,除非你已指定某人在你外出時將其關停。
9.Beeping your car horn in anger九. 因憤怒鳴笛

10.Jumping the queue when buying a tube ticket十. 買地鐵票時插隊
Under the terms of a bye-law, it is illegal to “jump” the queue in the tube ticket hall.一地方法規規定,在地鐵售票大廳插隊是違法的。
Any person directed by a notice to queue (or when asked to queue by an authorised person) shall join the rear of the queue and obey the reasonable instructions of any authorised person.有排隊標識(或工作人員要求排隊)時,所有人都應排隊並聽從工作人員指揮。
