If a person inherits his father's millions and leads an easy life, he is not a successful person even in material terms, because there are no difficulties involved in his achieving affluence. The term "success", to be sure. will not sit still for easy definition. But as I understand it, the true meaning of success entails a combination of both the process and the satisfactory result of an endeavor. To clarify my view, let me give another analogy.

  英語短文閱讀的.重要性不僅表現在高中英語考試中它的份量最大,而且還表現在英語短文是英語詞彙知識和語法知識的載體方面。詞彙量的擴大、詞彙知識的豐富和句子表達的多樣性光靠死記硬背是無法也不可能實現的。擴大詞彙量、豐富自己的詞彙知識和地道完美的表達自己只有依靠優良的閱讀習慣。教材課文是精讀材料,需要同學們讀熟讀透,直至能開口娓娓道來為止。課外閱讀又叫泛讀。高中英語新課標教材對高中前八個模組的學習有一個要求:課外閱讀要完成30萬單詞的閱讀量。也就是說:同學們需要每天有500到700個單詞量的閱讀。課外閱讀也是運用語言的一種必不可少的形式。課外閱讀不能停留在完成幾道閱讀理解試題或者完形填空試題。關鍵在儘量弄懂文章中的每一句話含義、長難句的結構。留意你還不很熟悉的詞彙、詞彙知識和語法知識。還要去認真體會不同的英語句子在表達上的精確性。千萬不要在一些你還不認識的,拼寫怪誕,發音困難的生僻詞彙上浪費時間和精力。

  閱讀能力,除詞彙量大小以外,還包含閱讀速度、長難句理解、和把握主題大意的能力。要會快速閱讀,同學們必須學會一些閱讀的技能:如:skimming(跳讀)、scanning(掃讀)和digesting(研讀)。Skimming和scanning就是根據閱讀任務在文中查詢相關資訊。Digesting主要是用來理解長難句、把握主題大意和作者意圖以及猜測詞義的技術。不僅要研讀長難句結構,也還需要研讀邏輯關係。

  流暢的短文表達能力在很大程度上依賴於你的詞彙量、詞彙知識和句法知識。它們的積累在於平時的聽、說和讀的活動。寫作表達能力中,你的英語句式的結構思維能力或者英語習慣思維能力會對錶達能力有重要影響。這就需要同學們平時養成一個良好習慣:那就是總是試圖用英語來表達出你眼睛所看到的,耳朵能聽到的,身體能感受到的和你思想能想到的。除此之外,一篇優秀的短文還少不了三個要素:即結構,內容和語言。

  一片結構完美的英文短文,尤其是說明文和議論文,往往有一個比較完優美的,誘人深入閱讀的開頭語。主題句是可從開頭語中自然而然過度而來。你所程述的觀點,一般都要用事實做論證,或者用具體方式方法來支援。巧妙的結論句往往能使文章錦上添花。

  聽所讀寫四大技能並不是各自孤立的,也是相互作用和相互制約的。如果平時,只注重某一項技能的學習和訓練,那是不可能成為一位真正的英語強手的。

  任何一門學科都需要踏實的學習作風。外語也不例外。學外語的實主要表現在以下幾個方面:

  一、落實詞彙、詞彙知識和特殊句式的積累。落實詞彙和詞彙知識並不是反覆背記詞彙表中的單詞。落實詞彙、詞彙知識以及特殊句式的最好辦法是先探究後運用。一個詞彙在經過七到八次在不同時間和不同的語境中運用後,它就是你的了。詞彙知識和特殊句式也是一樣。寫作是運用,造句是運用,閱讀,傾聽和與他人用英語交流也是運用。藉助詞典進行造句練習,在造句中運用新學的詞彙不失為一種行之有效的簡單易行的方式。

  五、落實自主探究的學習能力培養。學習中缺乏自主探究,不善於利用團隊合作和與老師溝通是很多高中生在學習中存在的一種普遍想象。老師不是保姆,老師不可能把英語的詞彙知識和英語的四大能力烹製成一道道佳餚後,一口一口地喂進學生的口中。老師的探究代替不了學生的探究。學習能力的培養主要是探究能力的培養。學會了探究,你才會在知識的大海中暢遊。學會了探究,你才會成為終身學習者。英語學科的探究應該表現在對某一特定詞彙在文中、在句中的用法和含義的探究,對長難句結構和含義的探究,對相關知識關聯的探究,對作者意圖、主題大意的探究,當然也包含對學法的探究。要探究知識,要有工具(詞典以及各種手冊等)的幫助,更要有團隊的合作,還要有老師的幫助。團隊合作可以讓你取他人之長補自己之短,還可以集思廣益,產生思想火花。常與老師溝通是可以使你更容易發現前進的方向,少走彎路。
