我急忙翻開書，有一些單詞不會讀，趕緊向我的同桌請教，可他也不會讀。這時，老師向我這邊走來，快了！快了！老師馬上就過來了，我的呼吸也變得有點急了，這可咋辦呀？
我趕快低下了頭，不敢去老師，只覺得心跳得可厲害了，手心裡不停地向外冒汗，兩腿不由自主晃來晃去。心裡默默的祈禱：老師呀！千萬別叫我啊！
可是，老師走到我的面前，停下了腳步，關切的問我：“你背過了嗎？”

晚上，我躺在床上，翻來覆去地睡不著，我一定要學好英語的。迷糊中我聽到英語老師叫我的名字，說我得了九十多分。我高興極了，一下子蹦了起來，拿起試卷就往家裡跑。爸爸媽媽看了我的試卷和成績，也非常高興，直誇我是個好孩子，一家人都很開心。看到我這麼有出息，你爭我搶地要看卷子，不知道是誰不小心，一下把我的試卷撕成了兩半，我的心一急，醒了。原來是一場夢啊！

從這以後，老師只要求抄寫的，我把它抄得全能默寫出來；老師要求得讀熟的課文，我把它讀得能背下來，還能背得滾瓜爛熟，已至於別的同學讀都沒我背得流利；老師要求造5個句子，我把它翻倍，造10個句子。總之，每次我都比老師更嚴格要求自己。所以，到了第二次上課，讀，聽，背，寫，我都是全班第一了。
為此，李老師為了激力其他的同學，在班上宣佈：只要誰趕上或超過了我，就翻倍獎勵小盾牌。可是，李老師卻在背地裡三翻五次的告誡我說："你一定要更加努力，不要停步不前，這樣他們會很容易趕上你的。"
聽了李老師的話後，我也就更加發奮了。因此，到現在為止，我一直保持著第一的這個位子。
從這裡，我終於懂得了"只要功夫深，鐵杵磨成針"的道理：只要你努力了，就沒有幹不好的事情。
